Understanding Captive Insurance Webinar (1 Hr. of General CE)

Description

Understanding Captive Insurance provides an introduction and overview of captive insurance. The webinar, taught by Oklahoma Insurance Department's chief captive insurance regulator, will offer registrants in depth study on Oklahoma captive insurance, captive insurance and taxes, captive insurance used by industry, and finally a U.S. overview of captive insurance.

Continuing Education - approved for 1 Hr. of General CE for P&C License.

Registration closes on the Monday before class, May 12, 2025 at 5pm.

Cancellation Policy

We realize that "life gets in the way" and sometimes our attendees cannot avoid canceling, transferring to another class, or registering for late events. It is important to understand that every event we host involves both hard and soft costs to the organization and we must be good stewards of our resources. 

If cancelling within one week of class, we will not be able to offer a refund. You may be able to transfer funds from one class to a future class for a $25 transfer fee for non-members.

Steve Kinion

On November 1, 2022, Steve became the chief captive insurance regulator for the Oklahoma Department of Insurance.  Oklahoma is the nation’s 13^th largest U.S. captive insurance domicile with more than 60 domiciled captive insurers.  In August 2024, Captive Review named Oklahoma as U.S. Captive Domicile of the Year for a domicile with annual premium of less than $5 billion.

From 2009 to 2022, Steve was the director of the Delaware Insurance Department Bureau of Captive and Financial Insurance Products.   During his tenure, Delaware grew to be the third largest U.S. captive domicile and the world’s fifth largest. Delaware’s captive insurers generated more than $5.4 billion of annual premium and held $49.5 billion of assets.  In 2013, Captive Review named Delaware as the U.S. Domicile of the Year.

From 2014 to 2019 and 2021 to 2024, Captive Review magazine named Steve as one of the 50 most influential figures in the global captive insurance industry.
